Fresh Water, Forests + Mountains
In The Pines
"In the pines, in the pines, where the sun don't ever shine..." Man, I shot this very early in the morning in the middle of an Idaho pine tree forest and all I could think about was that old Leadbelly song. As a big fan of old blues music, that track is pretty creepy if you ever listen to it. So, as this thing is playing in my head and I'm out in pitch blackness trying to setup my camera and find a composition I like, I had to keep turning around to make sure I was really alone. Yes, I'll admit it. I was a little scared. Just a little though...
So, when the sun started to light up the sky I felt very thankful when I could actually see more than 7 feet in front of my face. What did I learn from this experience? Well, these Giant pine trees look looming and ominous at night, and there are a zillion stars hanging out in the forests of northern Idaho! (And that I get a little scared wandering alone in the forests at night). Do they have bears up there? Mountain lions? Snakes?
