Nightscapes
I haven't been to too many places darker or more vast than Death Valley National Park in California. If you haven't been there, you seriously need about a week to just start scratching the surface of what this place has to offer.
During the day it is (as the name implies), extremely hot. You have got to carry loads of water to make sure you don't dehydrate. It would be very easy to pass out due to heat stroke in the desert. But, as the sun goes down, the temperatures cool off and the sky comes alive!
I found it difficult to try to narrow down all the places I wanted to photograph nightscapes of in Death Valley. I think this was my spot on my second night. I loved the dirt road that cut through the scene at the base of the mountains. The colors from the minerals in the rocks shimmering in the moonlight was fascinating to me as I thought I might be the only person for miles around. As there was so much to see and photograph, there was no way for me to capture everything I wanted to. I can't wait until the next time I'm out this way for another photography trip!
