Steadfast
On a solo photo expedition to the Northwest back in 2014 I had planned on coming to this area and photographing this amazing beach and rock formation. What I didn't anticipate was being completely smitten with it when I first laid eyes on it.
I drove down to the area for a sunset shoot and arrived to throngs of people on the beaches. The beaches were awesome, vast stretches of golden sands and tides that came in and went out for what seemed like miles.
I shot this location until I literally had to move or die of hunger pains. After getting a bite I found a hotel room with a view just like this out the front window. I stayed the night sleeping little and looking out the window a lot.
In the morning, long before the sun rose I was out there shooting again. Surprisingly it wasn't super crowded. The rolling waves crashed on the shore and sent a fine mist up the side of the mountain. From where I was standing I stood watching as the sun trickled down the monolithic rock, bathing exactly half of it with sunlight while letting the western side sleep in. It was fascinating, and among my favorite places on the west coast of the United States.
