Seascapes
The Sanctuary
In 2014 I switched from shooting Canon to Nikon. This was the first picture I took with my new Nikon D800E. While I love both Canon and Nikon cameras, at the time this camera was better for what I wanted to photograph than anything in Canon's arsenal. While that has since changed, I'm still shooting a descendant of that first D800E and I still love it.
Oh, but on to this photograph... Peaceful, isn't it? I shot this from a vantage point in Kihei where a rock wall swings out to the sea. The island in the distance is still part of Maui though the low lying areas that connect Mauna Kahalawai with Haleakala is too low to be seen in this shot. I shot this with a neutral density filter to be able to shoot a long exposure at sunset.
